Biography
Kaoli ONO is a french-japanese pianist. She performs regularly in both France and Japan, as a soloist, an accompanist and in vocal or instrumental chamber groups. She as given recitals at major venues in Europe and Japan including Théâtre de l’Ouest Parisien, La Seine Musicale, Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Saint Martin in the Fields in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo… In 2012 she plays Stravinsky’s concerto with the orchestre d’harmonie des Gardiens de la Paix, and in 2014 the 1st concerto from Bartok with the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire’s orchestra. In 2018-2019 she integrates the Académie Jaroussky where she follows the masterclasses with David Kadouch at the Seine Musicale.
Kaoli is deeply interested in contemporary music ; she won prizes in both the “Brind’herbe” competition in 2009 and a competition in 2013 devoted to music from the last 100 years. In 2008 she won second prize in the Leopold Bellan competition and first prize in the 11th edition of theNational Young Talent Competition. In 2007 she came second in the Lempdes Competition and was awarded the Jury Prize.
From 2009 to 2012 she studied with Marie-Paule Siruguet, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in piano at the Paris-Boulogne Conservatory (PSPBB). From 2012 to 2017 she studied at Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) in Erika GUIOMAR’s repetiteur’s class, and obtained a Master Degree Diploma. She currently teaches piano and piano accompaniment at Amiens Conservatoire.
After obtaining a diploma of harmony at the Paris Conservatoire, she turned her hand to composition. She is particularly interested by the voice and is the author of works for solo voice to choir. In 2018, she writes Pandore for choir a capella with the French composer Fabien Waksman on a text from the artist Niki de Saint-Phalle, tribute to the Human Rights Declaration. Inspired by Japanese myths, she also wrote Five Wakas for voice and piano on poems from Ono no Komachi, and Yomi, for piano, dedicated to Maroussia Gentet.
Kaoli Ono est une pianiste française d’origine japonaise. Elle se produit régulièrement en Europe et au Japon en tant que soliste ou en formation de musique de chambre autant instrumental que vocal. Elle a notamment joué dans de grandes salles telles que le Théâtre de l’Ouest-Parisien, le Suntory Hall à Tokyo, Wigmore Hall, Saint John Smith Square et Saint Martin in the Fields à Londres… En 2018-2019 elle intègre l’Académie Jaroussky et se perfectionne auprès de David Kadouch dans le cadre des masterclasses à la Seine Musicale.
Passionnée de musique contemporaine, Kaoli Ono est lauréate des concours «Brin d’Herbe» en 2009 et «Musiques du Dernier Siècle» en 2013. Elle a également été distinguée en 2008 au concours Léopold Bellan avec un 2ème prix d’excellence et aux 11ème rencontres et grand prix national «jeunes talents» où elle obtient le 1er prix «jeunes talents», ainsi qu’au Concours de Lempdes en 2007 avec un 2e prix et un prix spécial du jury. En 2016, elle est lauréate de la Fondation Meyer.
Elle a par ailleurs suivi l’enseignement de nombreux musiciens de renommée internationale qui l’ont guidée et inspirée tels que les pianistes Nicolas Mallarte, Marc Pantillon, Varduhi Yeritsyan, Françoise Buffet Arsenijevic, Denis Pascal, Romano Pallottini, Hortense Cartier-Bresoon, Wilhem Latchoumia, Winston Choï, mais aussi le Quatuor Ebène, Alain Meunier, Christian Ivaldi, Claire Levacher, Catherine Simonpietri…
Diplômée d'un premier prix d'harmonie au CNSMDP, elle s'oriente également vers la composition. Elle s'intéresse notamment à l'écriture vocale et est l'auteur de pièces allant de la voix soliste au grand ensemble vocal.
